At LEGENDS of the Bayou RV Park, our goal is simple: provide a peaceful waterfront campground that serves as the perfect home base for exploring the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
If you’re planning a winter stay or considering becoming one of our seasonal guests, here’s what you can expect.
A Small Campground with a Relaxed Atmosphere
LEGENDS of the Bayou is intentionally different from the large RV resorts you’ll find in many snowbird destinations. With just 27 full-hookup RV sites, our campground offers a quieter, more personal experience. You’ll quickly get to know your neighbors, enjoy peaceful mornings on the bayou, and escape the crowds often found at larger parks.
We have an on-site campground manager available during normal business hours throughout the work week. If you need assistance outside of office hours, we’re always just a phone call or text message away. While we’re not a full-service resort with a staffed clubhouse or activity director, we pride ourselves on being responsive and making sure our guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay.
Many of our winter guests return year after year because they appreciate the slower pace and friendly atmosphere.
Easy Arrival and Full Hookups
Getting settled is simple. Every site includes:
- Full water hookup
- Sewer connection
- 30- and 50-amp electric service
- Wi-Fi access
- Spacious pull-through or back-in accommodations (depending on your site)
Our roads are easy to navigate, making arrival and departure stress-free for both large motorhomes and fifth wheels. Once you’re connected, it’s time to start enjoying the Coast.
Living on the Bayou
One of the things that makes LEGENDS unique is our location directly on the bayou.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the waterfront throughout their stay. Whether you’re drinking your morning coffee while watching herons hunt along the shoreline or ending the day with a spectacular sunset, the water is always changing and always beautiful.
Our private boat launch makes it easy to bring your own boat, kayak, or paddleboard. From here you can explore the peaceful bayou, fish nearby waterways, or make your way toward Bay St. Louis and the Mississippi Sound. If you don’t have your own boat, don’t worry—there are plenty of local outfitters offering kayak rentals and guided fishing excursions throughout Hancock County.
Fishing Opportunities
Fishing is one of the biggest reasons many guests choose to stay with us. You can cast a line right from our fishing dock or launch your boat for access to nearby marshes, bays, and open water. - Sheepshead

Close to Everything the Mississippi Gulf Coast Offers
Although our campground feels tucked away, you’re never far from the Coast’s most popular attractions. Visit Coastal Mississippi to learn more about local events and happenings!
Within a short drive you’ll find beautiful public beaches, historic downtown Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Gulfport, Biloxi, waterfront restaurants, shopping, golf courses, museums, and entertainment.
If you’d like to try your luck, several of the Gulf Coast’s premier casino resorts—including Beau Rivage, Hard Rock, Scarlet Pearl, Golden Nugget, and Island View—are all within easy driving distance. Even if gambling isn’t your thing, many visitors enjoy the restaurants, spas, concerts, and live entertainment these resorts offer throughout the year.
Many of our guests also enjoy taking the Amtrak train from nearby Bay St. Louis for a relaxing day trip to New Orleans.
Visiting During Mardi Gras
Winter visitors often discover one of the Gulf Coast’s best-kept secrets: Mardi Gras season. Beginning in late January and continuing through February, communities across Coastal Mississippi celebrate with colorful parades, marching bands, floats, family-friendly festivities, and plenty of beads.
Unlike the enormous crowds of New Orleans, many Gulf Coast parades offer a more relaxed atmosphere while still delivering all the excitement and tradition Mardi Gras is famous for. If you’re staying with us during February, you’ll likely have several different parades to choose from in Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Pass Christian, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Ocean Springs. Understanding the Tides
Because our campground sits directly on the bayou, you’ll notice the water level rises and falls throughout the day.
Just like the nearby beaches, the bayou follows the natural tidal cycle of the Mississippi Sound. During high tide, you’ll see more water along the shoreline and around the boat launch. During low tide, portions of the shoreline become exposed, revealing marsh grasses, oyster beds, and the fascinating ecosystem that makes our coastal wetlands so productive.

If you’re planning to fish, launch a boat, or simply enjoy watching the water, it’s worth checking the local tide predictions before heading out. Many experienced anglers schedule their fishing around the tides because fish activity often changes as the water moves.
